John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and moved to Aspen. A few traveled through Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. He has become the personification of Colorado for everyone around the world. On my trips I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado the first words they'll say is Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver recognized that the song could be a huge hit after the song was first heard by him. The song was first recorded two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
